Orton-Gillingham Approach to Reading Instruction

OG method-4-eblast image (2)

Our Manalapan Center is excited to share the Orton-Gillingham way of teaching literacy. Orton-Gillingham is a structured, multisensory approach to teaching reading, writing, and spelling that emphasizes phonics. This approach is most effective for students with dyslexia and other learning disabilities. It also serves as a robust foundation for early literacy skills in PreK-Kindergarten students who are just beginning to recognize letters and sounds.

This method breaks down learning into smaller, manageable steps and offers individualized, direct, 1:1 instruction. It incorporates multisensory learning techniques and follows a systematic and sequential approach, providing students with the confidence and foundational skills necessary for lifelong learning.

Instructor Laura C. Trembly, MA CCC-SLP is an NJ Licensed Speech Pathologist and Orton Gillingham Certified Educator with over 30 years of experience in public school and the medical field. Laura has been a dedicated employee of the Sunshine Center for nearly a decade.

Individual instruction will be provided in person at the Manalapan Center or virtually if appropriate for the child.
